GPC receives Excellence Awards

Sydney – May 4, 2004.

GPC Electronics received three Excellence awards at the biennial AEEMA Excellence Awards. The Awards dinner is a highlight of the Australian electronics and electrical industries and is attended by senior executives from companies across Australia.

The prestigious Awards recognise excellence in a range of industry activities, including commercialisation of R&D, smart manufacturing, exporting, environment and innovation.

GPC Electronics was the winner of the Excellence in Innovation 2004 Award which is selected from nominees of all categories. The judges decided that GPC Electronic’s entry best demonstrated excellence in innovation because of its unique approach to outsourced manufacture and management of supply chain processes.

In accepting the Award, Andrew Greatbatch, Vice President of Corporate Development said, “We have a great team who come up with innovative solutions to customer problems, and this award is a tribute to all their hard work.”

GPC Electronics also received highly commended Awards in Global Excellence through Smart Manufacturing 2004 and Excellence in Exporting Growth 2004.

Companies that nominated for the Excellence in Smart Manufacturing Award had to demonstrate consideration of processes in the total supply chain. This included procurement, manufacturing, assembly, warehousing, distribution and inventory management.

Andrew Greatbatch said, “GPC Electronics uses an outsourcing model that emphasizes value more than price. This is achieved by analysing the customer’s value chain and developing a manufacturing solution which helps them to become more competitive.”

Criteria for the Award for Excellence in Global Exporting included a combination of exporting growth, sustainability of markets, adding value in international business, evidence of diversity in export markets and export sales achieved.
Export growth and quality in exporting.

GPC Electronics showed how it has manufactured products for major corporations around the world for many years and ships products to over 40 different countries.

The awards were presented by The Hon Ian Macfarlane MP, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources.
